277 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Frederick Lobati is a successful doctor with nearly 50 years of experience. Born in Cameroon, he received a scholarship from the Cameroon government to study in Germany, where he began his higher education in medicine at the University of Dusseldorf. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in premedicine in 1984, he continued his studies at the University of Cologne, where he ultimately achieved an MD in 1988. Returning to Cameroon, Dr. Lobati practiced for four years with American missionary doctors, who urged him to complete further training in the United States. They arranged for him to travel to the U.S., and he passed the medical exam in 1990. Shortly thereafter, he began a residency in internal medicine at the University of Missouri– Kansas City School of Medicine, going on to complete a fellowship in infectious disease. Dr. Lobati spent many years providing care in the areas of infectious disease and internal medicine, and since 2016, he has served as a hospitalist at CoxHealth. Furthermore, he is a civil surgeon for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the University of Missouri Health Care. Prior to his current professional endeavors, he was an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Missouri. Despite contracting poliomyelitis as a child, which left his left leg paralyzed, Dr. Lobati is proud to have attained a high level of professional training and work-life experience. He attributes his success to his family, faith and determination. Moving forward, he plans to continue practicing medicine and providing care. Dr. Lobati believes that being called to serve others is a profound and compelling feeling, especially in the field of medicine.
