288 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Leveraging over four decades of practiced expertise, Dr. Dominic Offiong is a board-certified doctor of internal medicine and fellow of the American College of Physicians. Since 1984, he has helped countless patients recover and manage various illnesses and ailments. His interest in medicine was inspired by the care he received after sustaining an eye injury as a child — he was subsequently driven to dedicate his life to providing others with the same level of attentive aid and medical care. Born in Nigeria, Dr. Offiong began his vocational journey by pursuing a higher education. To wit, he studied at the University of Benin School of Medicine, where he ultimately achieved an MD in 1986. He officially began working with patients in a hospital setting while still living in Nigeria. At the onset of his career, he quickly earned a reputation for his excellence in the field, and he was named the top intern in his medical cohort. In 1998, Dr. Offiong immigrated to the United States and completed an additional residency in internal medicine at One Brooklyn Health System and Interfaith Medical Center in 2004. Throughout his career, he has remained deeply motivated by his interactions with his patients and his pride in their future health and success. He recalls a particularly satisfying interaction with a patient who came back after being discharged from his care to thank him and apologize for the way he had acted while in the hospital. Dr. Offiong credits his success to his dedicated work ethic, resilience and commitment to helping his patients. He believes personal wellness and public health are key to creating a stronger society, and he emphasizes that compassion and a humanitarian spirit are the core of a proper medical practice. While he celebrates a long career full of many noteworthy achievements, he is particularly proud of the number of patients he has helped.
