278 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Pivoting into education, Dr. Lockrow joined the Uniformed Service University in 2003, serving as the director of graduate medical education in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He then began teaching in 2012 and simultaneously operated as the vice chair of education. Following his retirement in 2023, he achieved professor emeritus status, and he remains involved in teaching and research initiatives. In the coming years, Dr. Lockrow anticipates maintaining his focus on research and robotic surgery at the Uniformed Service University. He is currently involved with a research grant aiming to establish communication protocols for robotic surgery across different states. This initiative seeks to facilitate the deployment of subspecialty surgeons in remote and challenging settings, such as rural areas, battlefields and large carrier ships. Alongside his research, he is looking forward to further enjoying his retirement. Driven by a lifelong ambition to become a doctor, Dr. Ernest G. Lockrow pursued a career in medicine. His journey began with a letter to the surgeon general of the United States Army inquiring about the possibility of attending medical school at the United States Military Academy West Point. Following his service as an engineer officer in the U.S. Army, he entered medical school. Today, he holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and is boardcertified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2010, Dr. Lockrow established the sole Department of Defense fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and subsequently served as its director until 2022. He also acted as the integrated chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, overseeing both the U.S. Navy and Army departments at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. In response to the 1996 consolidation of medical resources within the Army, Navy and Air Force, he navigated the relocation of Walter Reed to Bethesda, Maryland, and contributed to the establishment of the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
