285 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition HEALTH AND WELLNESS Kelly Murray excels at the FNE Anne Arundel Medical Center as a forensic nurse examiner. She also works as an end-of-life doula, a role in which she provides emotional support to families of hospice patients and helps them navigate the complex emotions and responsibilities that accompany the dying process. Over the course of her 30-year nursing career, she considers her most notable achievement to be her 28 years treating critically ill patients in the neurotrauma unit at Shock Trauma, University of Maryland Medical Center. Ms. Murray has received an extensive education in nursing. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Anne Arundel Community College in 1994 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2009. These degrees, coupled with her decades of experience, allowed her to provide high-quality care at the University of Maryland Medical Center. In 2023, Ms. Murray began serving as an adjunct professor at Howard Community College, where she teaches clinical skills and emphasizes the importance of preparing students for the realities of the health care industry. Additionally, she operates Stitch Your Legacy, a fiber arts store and workshop established in 2023 to provide a place for crafters and community members to gather. Through Stitch Your Legacy, Ms. Murray aims to promote a sense of community by encouraging skill sharing, sustainability, and creative wellness. Moving forward, she envisions organizing events that promote peace of mind and encourage individuals to take steps toward improving their holistic health. She is committed to continuing the education and support surrounding endof-life discussions both through her work as a professor and her work as a nurse.
