325 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Echo Estelle Hutson’s passion for criminal law has been a driving force behind her career as a lawyer and judge. Since 2023, she has served as a judge at the County Court at Law No. 4 in Montgomery County, Texas. In this role, she manages criminal cases from the initial probable cause stage through setting bonds and guiding the case through pre-trial, trial and post-trial proceedings. Outside of the courtroom, Ms. Hudson regularly advocates for mental health and domestic violence awareness, engaging in discussions to promote understanding and support. Since graduating from the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School with a JD in 2008, Ms. Hudson has also operated as a prosecutor, focusing on cases related to family violence and domestic abuse. As a young attorney, she established the first specialized domestic violence division within the district attorney’s office of her county. She has since implemented best practices and law enforcement policies for investigations and provided comprehensive training on these policies. In recognition of her outstanding work, Sam Houston State University distinguished her court as the National Best Performer in handling domestic violence cases, surpassing courts both nationally and internationally. In Montgomery Couty, Ms. Hudson is the founder and host of two annual events — Flowers on the Lake and Anchored in Unity. Now in its fifth year, Flowers on the Lake is held on October 15th in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, raising funds to benefit the Montgomery County Women’s Center. Held every May, Anchored in Unity serves as a crucial platform to provide awareness and resources to prevent mental health crises. Moving forward, Ms. Hutson strives to evolve Texas’ laws, focusing on enhancing protections for victims and updating language in existing laws to comply with national trends. She is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for domestic violence victims and plans to establish a family center.
