328 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Jerry A. McDonald, Esq., has found success as both an engineer and a lawyer. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in electrical and electronics engineering from Western Kentucky University in 1979, he began his career working as an engineer with various defense companies. Mr. McDonald later continued his education at Xavier University, where he earned a Master of Business Administration in 1985. Working as a business consultant for small businesses, he found himself frequently engaged with legal work and lawyers, prompting him to return to school to pursue law. In 2002, Mr. McDonald graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law and opened his private firm, the Law Office of Jerry A. McDonald PLC, where he continues to serve as an attorney. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and specializes in the areas of family, business and criminal law, as well as estate planning. Inspired by intriguing stories of submarines used in World War II, Mr. McDonald volunteered to serve with the United States Navy’s submarine service before pursuing his primary profession. His seven years of service instilled in him the ideal of using the resources of government and country as a force for good. Those aspirations later prompted Mr. McDonald to civic service; he spent four years as planning commissioner for the city of Chanhassen, Minnesota, and 18 years as a council member. Beyond his contributions to the local government, Mr. McDonald is an active member of his community, especially through the local Rotary Club. He has regularly participated in the organization’s annual Breakfast with Santa event, portraying Santa Claus alongside his wife as Mrs. Claus.
