338 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT Jeffrey S. Merrifield celebrates over 35 years of excellence in energy and law. He holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees from Tufts University in history and political science and was awarded a Juris Doctor in environmental law by Georgetown University Law Center in 1992. Since 2015, Mr. Merrifield has been a partner of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. Widely recognized as an international thought leader on nuclear power and the deployment of complex carbonsaving energy systems, he served as a presidential appointee to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission from 1988 to 2007 and is the current chair of the United States Nuclear Industry Council. He has testified more than a dozen times on nuclear issues in front of both the U.S. House and the Senate and provides pro bono counsel to eight clean energy non-governmental organizations. In recognition of his work, he was presented with a 2024 distinguished achievement award from Tufts University. Moving forward, Mr. Merrifield plans to continue his work developing and implementing nuclear fusion technologies and climate changerelated clean energy subjects. He hopes to see these technologies adopted to have a meaningful positive effect on global climate change. His law practice, Molavi Law, P.C., is well-regarded for specializing in construction law. Originally from Iran, he immigrated to the United States in 1976, after which point he earned a Master of Science in civil engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and began a decade-long career in the construction industry. Mr. Molavi’s interest in law developed after he became a workplace resource on matters involving construction law. After achieving a JD at Emory University in 1991, he began his legal career in earnest, working as a partner in several noteworthy firms. These included Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, and Freeman Mathis & Gary. Mr. Molavi ultimately established Molavi Law, P.C. in 2014. The firm has served as legal counsel to other practices and handled complex construction litigation for over a decade.
