270 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Heather R. Curtis is a psychiatrist, educator and executive director of I THRIVE, a nonprofit supporting survivors of sexual violence, mental illness and trauma. Inspired by her father’s support and a family legacy of military service, she pursued her childhood dream of becoming a physician. Dr. Curtis studied abroad in London with Brigham Young University, later completing a BS in biology at Utah State University. She earned an MD at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, followed by an internship in internal medicine and a residency in adult psychiatry. Dr. Curtis has held leadership roles as an inpatient psychiatrist and medical director at Jordan Valley Medical Center and Bingham Memorial Hospital. In 2023, she became an adjunct professor of psychiatry at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Since shifting her focus to build I THRIVE in 2024, she plans to return to practice in 2025 as an outpatient adult psychiatrist in Bountiful, Utah. Her work also spans integrative medicine, global mental health, and the careful study of psychedelic sciences. Under Dr. Curtis’ direction, I THRIVE has expanded from an online resource to include annual art therapy programs, survivor scholarships and partnerships benefiting trauma survivors. In 2024, her initiatives increased suicide prevention and community awareness, using art as activism and nonviolent resistance to support survivor rights in Utah. Through a pledge for peace, campus, community, and psychedelic safety, I THRIVE advocates for meaningful dialogue and prevention of harm in Utah and beyond. A trained yoga and breathwork instructor, Dr. Curtis advocates for integrative medicine and somatic therapies in trauma-informed care. She credits her success to the support of her father and guidance from mentors and guides, including Kris King, Dr. Vijay Shankar and Dr. Omar Reda. HEATHER R.
