Prior to graduating, Ms. Long gained experience in her field as an electrocardiogram and laboratory technician with Carson Tahoe Health. Continuing her career with Carson Tahoe Health as a nurse, Ms. Long worked primarily in surgical orthopedics. After briefly serving as an infection control practitioner, she transitioned to employee health nursing in 1994. In the employee health department, she was instrumental in enhancing communication within the medical center, elevating the department’s visibility. Under her leadership, the division has become the primary destination for individuals seeking information related to employee health. Currently, she is the department supervisor for all employee health operations. In her current position, Ms. Long is responsible for educating employees on health benefits and procedures for managing work-related injuries, as well as overseeing workers’ compensation matters. In addition to ensuring accurate data entry for effective communication with workers’ compensation insurance carriers, she facilitates the return of individuals to light-duty roles, promoting continued productivity. Outside of her work in the medical center, Ms. Long maintains her membership in the Association of Occupational Health Professionals in Healthcare. Looking to the future, she is determined to reach her 50-year milestone of dedicated service with Carson Tahoe Health. Nearing the end of her career, she intends to utilize her time wisely, contributing to the development of the facility’s occupational medicine clinic, which provides employees with a dedicated resource for injury-related treatment and medical care. F or nearly 50 years, Terry R. Long, RN, has excelled as a nurse and health care practitioner. She became interested in medicine in 1977 after volunteering at a local hospital as a teenager.
