292 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Eric Jon Sacknoff is a retired, board-certified urologist and clinical professor who dedicated over 50 years of his career to serving patients and developing the next generation of healthcare providers. A gifted student and athlete, he set the state of Maine high school record in the 100-yard butterfly. He was Tufts University varsity swim team MVP for three years, becoming captain his senior year. He earned a BS in biology at Tufts University and an MD at the Tufts University School of Medicine. He served in a general surgery internship and residency at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, followed by a urology residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. After his chief residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Sacknoff remained at the institution as a clinical instructor and director of the genitourinary tumor clinic. He joined the clinical faculty at Harvard Medical School from 1977 through 2018. During the 1980s and 1990s, he spent more than 20 years teaching over 5,000 urologists in eight countries, including the United States, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany and Italy. Dr. Sacknoff was the president of the urology section of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. After completing his leadership role as the president of Cambridge Urological Associates in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he relocated to an underserved region in Marion, Virginia. He developed a large urologic practice, becoming the chief of surgery and urology, encompassing four counties. While in Virginia, he was president of the Virginia Urological Society and promoted his passion for fly fishing by establishing the number one chapter of Trout Unlimited in the state. After finishing residency training at two of the finest teaching institutions in the United States, Dr. Sacknoff became well-regarded as an innovator in adult and pediatric urology and minimally invasive laser procedures. In light of his fulfilling career, he credits his success to his dedication to learning, innovation, and a sense of humor. He enjoys his family with his wife, Carol, their seven daughters, a son, and seven grandchildren. His hobbies include fly fishing, international cooking, landscaping and reading history.
