Currently, Mommy Dentists in Business has more than 10,400 members across the United States and Canada, who share advice, offer emotional support and encourage each other, keeping women at the forefront of dentistry. Dr. Yum considers her most significant career highlight to be the opportunity to help several women pursue higher education through financial grants, including seven who went on to become dental hygienists. Seeing them succeed fills her with a sense of pride, and she hopes to continue helping other women through education. In 2018, Dr. Yum published her first book, “Mommy Dentists In Business: Juggling Family and Life While Running a Business,” and she looks forward to completing a second. In addition, she plans to expand Mommy Dentists in Business globally and grow the program’s resources. Dr. Grace Yum has found fulfillment and success as a dentist, an entrepreneur, and a parent. While attending Northwestern University, her family dentist encouraged her to pursue dentistry and hired her as a dental assistant. As an assistant, she worked with many children and developed an interest in working with pediatric patients with additional care needs for developmental and intellectual disabilities. In 2005, Dr. Yum completed a bachelor’s degree in communications and mass media studies and continued her studies at the University of Maryland, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery with specializations in pediatric dentistry and special needs patients. Since 2009, she has seen pediatric patients at her practice, Yummy Dental and Orthodontics. Recognizing the impact that becoming a mother had on both her practice and her approach to business, Dr. Yum started Mommy Dentists in Business, an online support and networking group for mothers working in dentistry and related fields, in 2017. Dr. Yum is passionate about helping the next generation of women dentists through Mommy Dentists in Business.
