49 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Jennifer Alison Emmer is the visionary founder of Feng Shui Style, a bi-coastal boutique design firm that blends ancient wisdom with modern aesthetics. With over 30 years of experience, she transforms spaces through customized feng shui design that harmonizes energy and elevates everyday living. Certified by the American Feng Shui Institute, Ms. Emmer’s career began in the arts as a photographer and graphic artist. After working at NEC Technologies and Adobe Systems, a lifechanging stay in Florence, Italy, and a feng shui book from Chinatown led her to shift fully into feng shui and interior design. She founded L.A. Feng Shui in 1995 and later launched Feng Shui Style in San Jose, California, in 2002. Ms. Emmer’s work attracted celebrity clients in Los Angeles, and upon relocating to the Bay Area, she contributed her expertise to Apple’s campus in Cupertino, Google’s San Jose campus, and the Diridon Train Station design committee. In 2014, she appeared on HGTV’s “Flip It to Win It,” using feng shui to boost property appeal. A passionate historic preservationist, she supports the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Victorian Preservation Alliance and Connecticut historical societies. She has lovingly restored her 1859 Italianate Victorian in Newington and recently purchased an 1828 sea captain’s home on Cape Cod. Ms. Emmer’s education includes art and photography at Skidmore College and the Massachusetts College of Art, humanities at Harvard University, international business at Boston University, classical feng shui with Master Larry Sang in Los Angeles, and advanced study with Master Alan Stirling in the UK. Ms. Emmer was recognized as the #1 Design Firm in Los Gatos and earned Top 3 and Top 10 Designer awards in San Jose and Design Awards from Houzz and LUXlife. Likewise, she was featured in Architectural Digest, the San Francisco Chronicle, Good Housekeeping and U.S. News & World Report and has helped preserve Victorian homes in San Jose’s Little Italy with the Preservation Action Council. Ms. Emmer brings creativity, strategy and what she calls a bit of “secret sauce” to every project — with consistently remarkable results. She is currently writing a book about American architecture.
