214 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine FINANCE AND INSURANCE James J. Lenihan celebrates decades of success in finance and executive leadership across industries. After graduating from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in finance, he continued his education at the DePaul University Driehaus College of Business, where he received a Master of Business Administration with distinction in 1981. He began his career as an assistant treasurer at Microdot Inc., rising to treasurer by the time he left the company in 1989. After moving to the Nalco Water head office in Naperville, Illinois, he became the company’s director of financial planning and analysis, going on to lead the finance department for eleven years. Mr. Lenihan took another executive role in 2000, becoming director of global treasury for Whittman-Hart, a digital communications services company. The following year, he brought his expertise to academia as the leader of the treasury management certified treasury professional (CTP) certification program at Northwestern University. In tandem with his continuing career in finance, he served as an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University, Benedictine University and Concordia University over the next 17 years. In 2002, Mr. Lenihan became the treasurer for Prime Group Realty Trust, departing in 2005 to join Zurich Financial Services as a corporate treasurer. He shifted into wealth management advisement at Total Clarity Wealth Management Inc. and continued to serve as the creator and director of the treasury management program at DePaul University until 2016. Since 2007, Mr. Lenihan has operated as the chief executive officer of TreasuryPros, a treasury management consulting firm. The business provides a variety of services, including CTP and CPA exam preparation, financial literacy education and financial consulting. In the coming years, Mr. Lenihan plans to finish writing a book and hopes to pursue publication.
