She already holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Leo University and a master’s degree from Liberty University. Ms. Johnson is deeply passionate about creating a safe space for girls facing adverse situations or trauma and plans to establish a community center in Alachua County. She envisions a central location where these girls can find support, engage in extracurricular activities and access much needed resources. She also incorporates life skills training to prepare young people for adulthood. By providing a safe and inclusive environment for youth, she hopes to empower them to take charge of their lives and live to their fullest potential. LaShay Johnson has achieved a wealth of success in the nonprofit industry through her unwavering drive and dedication. As part of her professional endeavors, she remains dedicated to making a meaningful impact and helping young women and girls, through mentoring and the promotion of self-love and mental health education, by advancing the mission of First Love Yourself (FLY) Inc., a nonprofit organization she started in 2018. Ms. Johnson has also served as the executive director of the Alachua County Health Promotion and Wellness Coalition since 2020. In this position, she provides drug prevention education and mental health resources to youth and community members, relying on her 20 years of industry experience. She is also an active member of Gainesville Black Professionals, a community organization. Ms. Johnson takes great pride in her ability to persevere and serve as a constant source of support for others. Looking to the future, Ms. Johnson has determined several sizeable goals for herself.
