Adjacent to his duties at Capella University, Dr. Sorbello dedicates his time to authoring chapters for technical books, such as “Pandemics, Politics, and Toilet Paper: How Consumers Affect Supply Chains,” which was featured in “COVID-19: Embracing New Normal; Resilience Just in Time, Powerful Survival Strategy.” Alongside his professional writing, he is an award-winning poet and novelist. Looking ahead, Dr. Sorbello aims to continue teaching while also deepening his understanding of subcultural perceptions, paradigm shifts, and evolutions in organizational and leadership models. He is currently engaged in writing a nonfiction book on various hot topics affecting U.S. citizens and politics. He is also refining a 10-novel fiction series, which he anticipates submitting for publication sometime soon in the coming years. Dr. Kevin M. Sorbello has cultivated a fulfilling career as a multifaceted professional. After graduating with a BS in marine engineering from the California State University Maritime Academy in 1979, he joined the Merchant Marine Naval Reserve and began serving as a chief engineer for the United States Navy’s Military Sealift Command. He subsequently became a chief marine engineer of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in 2007 and chief of fleet maintenance and logistics in 2010. He has acted as an instructor for both the NOAA and the Military Sealift Command, which offer engineering programs utilized by government agencies. Since 2013, he has served as a senior engineer at the Emprise Corporation, in addition to working as a SAMM contract program manager and training manager. Furthermore, in 2021, he became a remote instructor for the organization. Dr. Sorbello holds an MA in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College and an MA in management philosophy from Walden University. In 2019, he achieved a PhD in management, specializing in leadership and organizational change, at Walden University.
