135 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition EDUCATION Inspired by a lifelong interest in boating and yacht clubs, Joseph Albert Tringali created the Academy of Yachting in 2017. The established group hosts regular two-day programs where club members can learn more about club life and discuss issues facing their clubs. Prior to the Academy of Yachting, Mr. Tringali served as the assistant attorney general of Florida from 1991 until his retirement in 2015. Mr. Tringali is proud of his career in law spanning over 50 years and believes that law school is the best education a person can receive. He attended the University at Buffalo (State University of New York at Buffalo), earning a bachelor’s degree in history before subsequently completing a Juris Doctor. As an active member of his communities, he served as the commander of TAK Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, in Western New York. Likewise, he previously held elected positions, including mayor of North Palm Beach, Florida. Adjacent to his professional endeavors, Mr. Tringali starred in his community theater production of “Elegy of Stanley Gorski” in Buffalo, and he served on the Guild of Catholic Lawyers in Florida. A prolific writer as well, he has been the editor of Gulfstream Online Magazine and has contributed articles to many professional journals. In addition to his work with periodicals, Mr. Tringali authored a twovolume set of books about yacht culture, titled “Yachting Customs and Courtesies,” as well as “I Was That Baby,” his story of being adopted at birth and finding his birth family as an adult. He has also written three novels, “A Quiet Family Murder,” “Harbor of Dreams” and “Harbor of Refuge.” He is currently working on his upcoming memoir about his Italian family, “Tales from the Big House,” and hopes to be remembered for his character and integrity.
