KING, EDD Dr. Denise P. King is an award-winning educator, administrator and human resources executive. Since 2021, she has served as the assistant director of retirement and benefits for the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association. Having cultivated her own higher education, she completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and she holds an MEd from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and an EdD in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. King discovered her passion for teaching after her father asked her to substitute for one of his math classes. For nine years, she taught in the city of Camden. In 2000, she transitioned into educational leadership, and in 2005, she became the principal of the B. Bernice Young School, a position she held until her retirement in 2021. Since then, she has remained active in supporting educators and students, coaching and mentoring for the Foundation for Educational Administration. Dr. King is also a former National Distinguished Principal and the author of “Unshakeable Faith: Navigating Racial Injustices in the American School System.” She strives to pay her success forward for future generations. Andrea Gonzalez Kirwin has spent many years as a teacher and academic facilitator. As the chief academic officer and superintendent of schools for ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania, she works with a dynamic team to ensure all school components are functioning properly. She meets with the nonprofit’s executives to deliberate on future initiatives and provide her expertise as a teacher. In 1994, Ms. Kirwin began her career as a supportive service assistant in Philadelphia’s public schools, working closely with teachers. She later took on roles as a bilingual teacher and bilingual facilitator. She subsequently oversaw the expansion and supervision of bilingual programs across the district and served as a school principal. Since 2019, Ms. Kirwin has adjacently taught at Temple University — her alma mater— as an adjunct professor in the College of Education and Human Development. As a former student of the institution, she earned a BS in educational psychology in 1995. Furthermore, she holds an MEd from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
