142 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION After a successful career of nearly 60 years, Dr. Emily Moore retired from her position as a physical education teacher with the Roosevelt School District in 2019. While attending Morgan State University, she was the first of 11 students to be arrested for refusing to leave a segregated movie theater. Later Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visited the college to encourage her and her peers, praising their initiative and determination. Dr. Moore graduated with a BS in physical education in 1965 and went on to earn an MS in education and counseling from Hofstra University and an LLD from Morgan State University. An avid volunteer worker, Dr. Moore served with the Peace Corps in Nigeria, with Queen Mother Moore during a delegation touring the United States and Tanzania, and with the People to People Student Ambassador Program in South Africa. In 1975, she founded the Alliance Junior Tennis Development Program, which uses tennis to encourage structure and discipline within children. In addition to her career, Dr. Moore enjoys writing and published a book of poetry titled, “Just Like It Is.” PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER (RETIRED), ROOSEVELT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDER, ALLIANCE JUNIOR TENNIS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Roosevelt, NY Dr. Cheryl L. Morgan spent 30 years of her career as a pediatric respiratory therapist, during which time she also taught new employees and students about electronic medical records. She fell in love with teaching and began working as an adjunct instructor at Charter College in 2018. In addition to Charter College, she now works as an adjunct professor at Trine University and Strayer University. Dr. Morgan considers becoming a professor to be her most significant professional accomplishment. To wit, she enjoys sharing her knowledge, interacting with students and learning from her peers. She pursued her own higher education at Kennesaw State University, earning a BS in management information systems in 2008. Continuing her studies at Capella University, she received a master’s degree in information technology and a PhD in information technology. Alongside her collegiate work, Dr. Morgan is a consultant with Corner Alliance, a business management company. Moving forward, she intends to publish her dissertation and write another paper focusing on the topic of securing medical records.
