156 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING In 2019, Dr. Rehm began working closely with a retired chemical engineer in Maine, who had knowledge and real-world application of the Wicked-Problem Approach (WPA), which can be utilized to solve highly complex problems. In 2021, he co-founded the initiative Global Solutions and Outreach Programs (GSOP). Recently, in 2023, Dr. Rehm and his colleagues established GSOP Climate Collaboration Inc., a nonprofit LLC whose sole objective is the promotion of the GSOP proposal. Dr. Rehm considers his most significant industry achievement to be his expertise in risk-based process safety, which earned him a CCPSC, the eminent RBPS certification from the Center for Chemical Process Safety. Since 2017, he has been sharply focused on climate solutions, particularly with the objective of the GSOP proposal becoming widely recognized as a vital part of resolving global warming. Early in his 50-year career, Dr. Thomas E. Rehm worked as a design and research engineer. He studied at the University of Arkansas, graduating in 1972 and joining UOP LLC (now Honeywell UOP) as a senior project engineer. He later continued his studies in chemical engineering at Northwestern University in 1978, ultimately achieving an MS in 1982 and a PhD in 1985. He worked as a research engineer at the Amoco (now BP) Research Center from 1985 to 1992, and from 1993 to 1997, he was a senior engineer at CH&A Engineering, investigating industrial accidents as an expert witness in litigation. In 1997, he joined Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia, where he was a senior loss prevention engineer for 12 years, serving as a company expert in risk-based process safety (RBPS). Dr. Rehm retired from Saudi Aramco in 2009 and subsequently worked in retirement as an independent, part-time RBPS consultant. In October 2018, his proposal for a Climate Solutions Community was approved by the board of directors of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). In November 2019, Dr. Rehm became an AIChE Fellow. THOMAS E. REHM, PHD PRESIDENT GSOP Climate Collaboration Inc. Humble, TX
