167 Millennium - Eighteenth Edition ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING PRINCIPAL GEOPHYSICIST (RETIRED) SLB Sugar Land, TX PRESIDENT Circuit Concepts Inc. Friendswood, TX DIANNA L. SHELANDER For four decades, Dianna L. Shelander demonstrated excellence as a geophysicist with expertise in oil and gas exploration. She attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, becoming the first female student in school history to earn an athletic letter in 1973. Soon after, she graduated with a BS in physical science and entered Stanford University, where she achieved an MS in exploration geophysics in 1981. Ms. Shelander began her career at Amoco Production Co., where she spent eight years as a geophysicist. She spent nine more years at Unocal before becoming a principal geophysicist at SLB in 1999. While working for Unocal, she discovered a new methane gas field offshore Burma. While with SLB, she authored and co-authored numerous scientific articles with the Department of Energy on quantifying subsurface methane hydrates. In 2018, Ms. Shelander retired from SLB after nearly 20 years. In her retirement, she strives to spend time with family and friends in enjoyable and helpful ways. She credits much of her success to her confidence, ability to approach problems with a clear vision, and tenacity to see those efforts through to the end. Through his passion for his work, Dr. Miles A. Smither has excelled in his field and achieved his personal and professional goals.
