188 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENTREPRENEURS Laurence A. Humphries celebrates over two decades of success as a leader and entrepreneur. He began his professional journey as a student at Morehouse College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in marketing in 1993. He continued his education at Clark Atlanta University, which awarded him a Master of Business Administration in finance. His academic experience at these historically Black institutions underpinned his sense of justice and the importance of living a life of servant leadership. After finishing graduate school, Mr. Humphries began a distinguished career with Chevron, stepping into the role of executive business analyst in 2000. His talent and drive saw him quickly advance to regional coordinator for Texaco, a Chevron subsidiary, and he eventually rose to become chairman and managing director of Texaco Nigeria PLC. Over the years, he climbed the corporate ladder through Chevron’s global strategy and planning ranks, becoming the senior principal analyst for strategy and business performance for the Middle East in 2020. These roles allowed him to apply his strategic and planning expertise, strengthening Chevron’s upstream success across the Middle East, South America, and West and Southern Africa. In 2022, Mr. Humphries transitioned from corporate leadership to entrepreneurship, and he founded the Wellness Development Group LLC, where he currently serves as president and chief executive officer. This venture marked a significant shift in his career, allowing him to channel his strategic expertise into building new enterprises. By 2023, he had expanded his business portfolio, becoming the owner of a VIO Med Spa franchise in Sugar Land, Texas, and creating Trailblazers Legacy Film and Productions LLC, through which he became a backer of the Broadway production “The Piano Lesson.” In the future, Mr. Humphries envisions building a diverse network of enterprises that reflect his dedication to creating social change. He hopes to focus on Trailblazers Legacy Film and Productions, supporting stories about the civil rights heroes and higher education leaders who have dedicated their lives to the survival of historically Black colleges and universities.
