Shirley-Auxilly attributes her achievements in financial consulting services to her disciplined research approach and commitment to excellence. As a successful woman in a maledominated career, she sees herself as a trailblazer and strives to set a strong example for other women. Originally from Jamaica, Ms. Shirley-Auxilly attended The University of the West Indies, earning a Bachelor of Science in management studies with honors in 1975. She immigrated to the United States to continue her education at the Pace University Lubin School of Business, where she received a Master of Business Administration in finance and banking in 1984. To remain current in her field, she completed an investment appraisal and risk analysis postgraduate program at Queen’s University in 2003. Ms. Shirley-Auxilly began her career as an auditor for Pannell Fitzpatrick & Co in 1975. She went on to work for notable companies such as Bankers Trust in New York City, where she served as the corporate trust and agency group assistant vice president and the public utilities account manager. From 2014 to 2018, she worked for the Jamaica Stock Exchange as the principal of their e-Campus. During her time there, she obtained accreditation of their financial management program, which the Jamaica Stock Exchange uses to train managers in the sector. Currently, she is a business consultant for The Competitiveness Company and an adjunct professor at the Jamaica Institute of Financial Services. She is also an independent board member of the Caribbean financial services Victoria Mutual Group. In addition to her career achievement, Ms. Shirley-Auxilly is proud to have conceived the Sigma Run for Charity in Jamaica, a charity race established in 1999 and one of the Caribbean’s largest giving initiatives. She is also proud to have established the Sigma Unit Trust and to have coauthored the peer-reviewed case study, “Victoria Mutual Building Society: Taking Stock,” published by the Western University Ivey Business School.
