Germán Barranca Costales has enjoyed multiple successful careers, including playing major and minor league baseball for 12 years and nearly two decades as a city plan reviewer and inspector. While playing baseball professionally, he was signed to the Kansas City Royals and played in the minor leagues for teams such as the Detroit Tigers, the Cleveland Indians and the Texas Rangers. He joined the major leagues in 1979 and 1980 with the Kansas City Royals and played for two years with The Cincinnati Reds. During the periods between winter and spring baseball training, Mr. Barranca Costales returned to his home country, Mexico, and worked in construction, learning about the field. When he first moved to the United States, he worked as an electrician and continued to improve his knowledge through online self-study courses. After leaving professional baseball, he obtained a master electrician license and began working in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
