Attributing her success to her exceptional drive and motivation, Dr. Davis considers one of her greatest accomplishments to be the release of her latest book, “Raging Currents: Mental Illness and Family,” a memoir of her personal mental health and family journey. Published in 2023, it builds on her existing catalog of mental health and wellness titles, including “The ABCs of Caregiving: Words to Inspire You” and “Caregiving Our Loved Ones: Stories and Strategies That Will Change Your Life.” Author, educator and life coach Dr. Nanette J. Davis has dedicated more than 40 years of her career to helping others reach their potential through teaching, research, community outreach and behavioral health support. As part of her vocational journey, she earned an MS from the University of Minnesota and a PhD from Michigan State University. She also completed postdoctoral studies at Stanford University. In 1975, Dr. Davis began teaching at Portland State University, where she remained for 16 years. She then served as the criminology program coordinator for Chapman University before becoming a visiting professor of sociology at Western Washington University in 1997. Dr. Davis left teaching in 2007 to focus her efforts on writing and community work. In 2008, she became the principal at House of Harmony Press, an author-owned publishing house with more than 15 years of success. She is also a cofounder of Bellingham at Home, an organization striving to help seniors create a community while remaining in their own homes. In recognition NANETTE J.
