He celebrates 35 years of expertise with major dance companies around the United States, including roles as an associate director of finance for the New York City Ballet and terms as the executive director of the José Limon Dance Foundation, the Orlando Ballet and the National Dance Institute. Mr. Escalante began his affiliation with the Miami City Ballet in 1995, spending six years as the company’s human resources director before departing to take on executive positions at El Museo del Barrio and a business development position with the Worth Avenue Group. Mr. Escalante returned to the Miami City Ballet as the executive director in 2023. In this role, he oversees management, booking and financial functions with the goal of elevating the company from one of the United States’ top ten ballet companies to one of the top 20 companies in the world. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his consistency and continued learning. Chris Farina credits his long-term success to his passion for filmmaking and his belief in the power of film to make connections and inspire. He studied at the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in American government and politics and was awarded a Master of Arts in film and video production by American University. In 1998, Mr. Farina created Rosalia Films, an independent film studio focused on producing short films and documentaries. Among the projects he is currently working on is “Death Becomes Us and With Us,” a feature documentary that explores the lives and work of those involved in end-of-life care. The project aims to open conversations about death by examining different perspectives and experiences related to it. He hopes to release the film in 2025. Other projects Mr. Farina has been involved in include the short films “The Holistic Life Foundation: Breathing Love into a Community,” “Coloring the Landscape,” and “Stars Over the Sea.” He plans to write, produce, and direct more films in the future.
