Corona, CA As an expert in residential care administration and support services, Olga L. Morales has built success from the ground up for more than 30 years. Originally from Cuba, Ms. Morales traveled to Ukraine to attend Odesa Mechnikov National University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Russian language and literature in 1990. She remained at the school for her graduate studies in physics and math, earning a master’s degree in 1992. Ms. Morales continued her physics education in Russia with the intention of returning to Cuba but changed her plans when given an opportunity to move to Canada. While living in Canada, she learned English, which led her to relocate again to the United States, settling in California. When the pastor of a local church suggested that Ms. Morales would make a better advocate than mathematician, she began to contemplate a career change, eventually leading to her pursuit of a career in facility management. In her first position, she worked with 12 developmentally disabled clients, which motivated her to learn more about disability advocacy. After three years in her position, she became an administrator at Noah’s Ark and Rainbow Group Home, where she hired and worked with older employees and clients. She served as a leader at the home from 2000 to 2016, encouraging her staff and clients to embrace their individual strengths and pursue new goals. In 2005, Ms. Morales acquired Noah’s Adult Home, continuing her administrative role. In 2011, she acquired Geneva’s Home, allowing her to diversify the types and levels of care offered. Since 2016, she has been the chief executive officer of Calla Lily Care Services Inc., supervising a staff of 20, monitoring the different facilities, and providing operational support when needed. In addition, she is the owner of Sunflower Residential Care. Over the course of her career, Ms. Morales has achieved much, but she considers one of her proudest moments to be her nominations for the 1999 and 2003 Kennedy Awards from Inland Regional Center, which recognized her as one of the center’s best care providers.
