386 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT Nesha Abiraj is a skilled international human rights lawyer and the co-founder and president of Climate Rights & Justice International, an international human rights nonprofit focused on the impact of the climate crisis on human rights. Previously, she held several key leadership positions within other organizations, including serving as a lead advocate for UNICEF USA and acting as an innovation ambassador to ocean states on climate justice and human rights. Furthermore, she worked with Save the Children on international humanitarian response relating to key poverty-focused issues impacting the lives of children living in humanitarian and developmental settings. Ms. Abiraj also serves as a member of the United States National Coalition to end early, forced and child marriages, and she is a U.S. Advisory Board Member to Sahiyo, a non-governmental organization dedicated to ending the practice of female genital mutilation and cutting. She is also a climate reality leader and a member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Human Rights Committee. Throughout her career, Ms. Abiraj has gained deserved recognition for her work, having notably had her legal research papers published in prestigious law journals. In 2019, she was awarded the Citation of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for her tireless efforts to protect children from early, forced and child marriages. She also received the Pen America, Pen Toni & James C. Goodale, Free Expression Courage Award. Likewise, she was featured as one of the top 100 Women in the World by Women Who Win. In light of her fulfilling career, Ms. Abiraj credits her achievements to the support she received from her family, friends and mentors.
