As the company’s owner and director, he continues to contribute to sustainability initiatives in Brazil. Dr. Oana M. Leonte is the director of research at Berkeley Polymer Technology, where she specializes in deep chemical engineering for the chemical organic technology, catalysis and semiconductor industry. Born in Romania, she studied at Politehnica University of Bucharest, achieving both a master’s degree and a PhD in chemical engineering. She garnered early praise for her research and became the director of the heterogeneous catalysis laboratory at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of Romanian Academy, where she mastered and implemented 10 new industry technologies. In 1990, Dr. Leonte immigrated to the United States and spent two years with Space Systems Loral, where she diagnosed and corrected satellite battery fabrication technology, material quality and supply chain issues. In 1995, she joined the Pinnacle Research Institute, diagnosing similar issues and developing a new technology scaledup for ultracapacitor fabrication. Dr. Leonte holds nine patents, with four pending, and she has spoken and lectured at institutions and conferences worldwide. She received the Nicolae Teclu Award from the Romanian Academy in 1978, a Lam Vista Award from Lam Research in 2008, and an Excellence Award from the Society of Chemical Engineering in Romania in 2024.
