Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Danberg works alongside her husband, Dr. John Ficarelli, a pediatric dentist, to aid and volunteer with children’s dental outreach projects throughout Latin America. They also founded a children’s dental clinic in Mexico. Working with the American Medical Resource Foundation, she has facilitated the donation of containerloads of medical and dental equipment to hospitals and clinics worldwide. In light of her fulfilling career, Ms. Danberg has attributed much of her success to her optimistic outlook and the unfailing support of her husband and family; some of her relatives are now fourth- or fifth-generation “islanders,” having followed family traditions in pediatric dentistry, community involvement and business on Martha’s Vineyard. Her children and their spouses previously founded and continue to operate Catboat Coffee Co. and MV Cheesery in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. a wealth of experience in health care and financial management. After acquiring an MBA in finance and management at the Simmons University Graduate School of Management, she worked in finance and operations for the young Boston Beer Company and consulted for the Massachusetts Bankers Association. Likewise, she was appointed to the Receiver’s Team for the city of Chelsea, with the task of bringing the city out of bankruptcy and creating its first balanced budget in decades. She was also a founding partner for a successful medical and dental products manufacturing company. Ms. Danberg continues to support many civic-minded organizations, including the John M. Barry Boys and Girls Club of Newton, the Scandinavian Living and Cultural Center, Green Newton and the Newton League of Women Voters. Furthermore, she is a founding board member of the Newton Cultural Alliance, an umbrella support group for arts and cultural organizations. She co-founded the Newton History Museum’s Historic House Tours, operated as an overseer of the Boston Symphony
