Shaw, PE, holds a professional engineering license in mechanical engineering and earned a BS in Chemical Engineering at Clemson University in 2009. She then operated in the nuclear industry for over a decade, working at companies such as SCE&G, Southern Nuclear and Georgia Power and constructing new nuclear facilities before transitioning to managing new school facilities. Her engineering background and experience working at the South Carolina Department of Education as a director enforcing codes have made her an expert in managing new school facilities. Ms. Shaw presently serves as the executive director of capital programs for the Charleston County School District, ensuring all district schools are built professionally and abide by state codes and regulations. She utilizes a $90 million annual budget and the One Cent Sales Tax Program to provide new schools and athletic facilities. She is a board member of the A4LE South Carolina Southeastern Region. Moving forward, Ms. Shaw aims to continue enhancing her qualifications by obtaining a certificate in construction or project management. She attributes her success to her faith and is proud to be a first-generation college graduate in her family. As a civil engineer and small business owner, Christine Magdy Wahba has built a successful career in New York City. Originally from Egypt, she attended Minia University in Minya, Egypt, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2010. After earning her degree, she moved to New York and began working for Ashnu International Inc. Moving up the ranks, she was soon appointed as a site superintendent and project manager, continuing to excel at the company for another three years. While working for MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Ms. Wahba recognized her tenacity for entrepreneurship and decided to begin her own construction company. In 2015, Ms. Wahba launched Works-inProgress Associates, which provides construction and project management services to nonprofit organizations. Additionally, she is the principal at MC Ridge Associates Inc. Ms. Wahba has won numerous awards for her vocational achievements, including the Young Professional Achievement Award for Excellence in Project Management from the Women Builders Council.
