He spent two years with the company while working to establish his own concrete business. Subsequently, he obtained the necessary licensing and launched 51st State Construction, which focuses on structural concrete, ensuring the integrity and safety of buildings. Mr. Bolduma holds an associate degree in business development and a BS in biomedical equipment engineering from the National University of Kyiv-Mohayla Academy. In the coming years, he aims to establish a trade school for those lacking financial resources for higher education. Recognizing the prohibitive costs associated with traditional academic pathways, he envisions a program where local contractors can sponsor students. Upon completing this program, students would be prepared to enter employment with contractors who supported their education, facilitating a direct workforce transition. Since 2017, Oleksii “Alex” Bolduma has served as the vice president of operations for his company, 51st State Construction. In his leadership position, he ensures all subcontractors remain aligned and on schedule, in addition to managing job sites alongside his superintendents. He is proud to have built the company from humble beginnings to its current operations with millions of dollars in annual revenues. Mr. Bolduma began his career in construction at the age of 13 in his home country of Ukraine. During school breaks, he worked mixing concrete, transporting bridge blocks and engaging in various construction-related tasks to earn extra money. At 15, he began collaborating with his father to construct their family home, which they completed just before his relocation to the United States. Upon arriving in the U.S. in 2009, with only $300 in his pocket, Mr. Bolduma settled in Delaware, where he worked in construction during the day and at a restaurant in the evenings for seven years.
