107 Millennium - Nineteenth Edition HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Irance Reddix is a physician and health care executive who has dedicated 35 years of her career to the health care industry. Since 1989, she has strived to expand health care access as the chief executive officer of Adullum Community Healthcare Center. Serving patients in the Baltimore metro area, Adullum Community Healthcare Center is a nonprofit primary care clinic offering low-fee and sliding-scale preventive health, diabetes screening, and behavioral health services to patients since 1989. Dr. Reddix helped oversee the clinic’s transition to nonprofit status in 2021 and continues to see patients focusing on overall wellness, health literacy and life skills, and diabetes and hypertension management. Raised by parents with doctoral degrees to value education and professional attainment, Dr. Reddix pursued a higher education at the onset of her vocational journey. To wit, she earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before later achieving a Doctor of Medicine at Howard University. She subsequently completed a residency in family medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, where she ultimately became a chief resident. Later in her career, Dr. Reddix continued her education, receiving a Master of Theology from the St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute and a Master of Divinity from the Wesley Theological Seminary. In addition to her academic credentials, she is a certified diabetes specialist. Adjacent to her work in medicine, Dr. Reddix is an ordained minister, regularly spending several days each week engaged in pastoral duties at her church. Furthermore, she participates in various community health care initiatives. In light of her fulfilling career, she credits her long-term success to the support of her parents and to her understanding of the value of teaching and outreach across different fields. In the coming years, Dr. Reddix plans to continue her work on behalf of the community and develop a partnership with one or more medical schools, with the eventual goal of becoming a lecturer or professor.
