Kayal Sr. is an accomplished and award-winning leader in business and religion as an educator, mentor and community advocate. He has built a distinguished career with significant contributions in business, human services and academia. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey, and moved to Miami with his family when he was four. He is the youngest of three first-generation American sons of Joseph Michael and Rose Barimo Kayal, both born in the ancient city of Aleppo, Syria. Since 2004, through his consultancy, RJKayal Consulting, he has provided guidance and solutions for his primary client, NewsLink® Group LLC, formerly known as Sirgany Enterprises Incorporated, a family business founded in 1959 by his father-in-law, Mitchell Sirgany, a pioneer in airport concessions. Dr. Kayal retired as the president and chief executive officer of Sirgany in 2004, passing the leadership to his son, Raymond J. Kayal, Jr., who transformed the family-owned business into the successful NewsLink® Group. With expansion into five major U.S. airports and fifty stores, NewsLink® has significantly increased its market share, generating $100 million in annual revenues. Together, Sirgany and NewsLink® have a combined history of operating at Miami International Airport for 65 years. Dr. Kayal’s earned a PhD in management at Walden University in 2016, an MBA at the University of Miami in 1982, and a BBA at the same institution in 1960. For the past seven years, he has been an associate editor, board member and peer reviewer for the International Journal of Responsible Leadership and Ethical DecisionMaking. He is also a distinguished emeritus member of the Academy of Management, where he actively contributes as a peer reviewer for academic manuscripts. His earlier role as an adjunct professor and part-time instructor at the University of Miami further underscores his commitment to education and knowledge dissemination. His academic achievements were recognized by the Golden Key International Honor Society in 2013, Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business in 2016, and as Commencement Alumni Marshall for the University of Miami School of Business in 2001.
