KRAMER III VETERINARY CARDIOLOGIST Atlantic Coast New York Veterinary Specialists Bohemia, NY Dr. George A. Kramer III is a boardcertified veterinary cardiologist, educator and business leader who celebrates more than 35 years of professional excellence. Inspired by a lifelong love of animals, an innate skill for problem-solving, and his father’s own aspirations of becoming a veterinarian, he was inspired to pursue his chosen vocational path from a formative age. While completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Kramer worked at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, gaining research experience and bolstering his veterinary school application. Despite the highly competitive application process, he remained dedicated to his passion and was ultimately accepted to the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. There, he achieved a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. While he initially expected to specialize in equine orthopedic surgery, he developed his interest in cardiology during veterinary school by working with renowned veterinary cardiologists, including Dr. Jim Ross and Dr. Neil Harpster. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Kramer completed an internship and residencies in veterinary internal medicine and cardiology at the Animal Medical Center in New York. Early in his career, while still at the Animal Medical Center, he identified taurine deficiency — a natural amino acid in the body — as a cause of dilated cardiomyopathy in some dog breeds. Throughout his career, Dr. Kramer has strived for and has driven innovation in animal cardiology and ultrasound technology, having helped to create a number of new technologies and procedures. These include the development of transcatheter valves for use in dogs and humans with mitral and tricuspid valve diseases. His CoApt Valve is currently in animal testing and will be available commercially soon. Furthermore, he holds six patents. Dr. Kramer is the founder and chief executive officer of NeoCor LLC and UltraVet Medical Devices LLC, where he has consolidated his clinical research and biomedical interests since 2011. He has expanded his research focus to include respiratory diseases and therapies.
