144 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY Dalton Henry Bermudez is a medical physics PhD student, educator and researcher currently serving as a delivery quality assurance team lead at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. In his current role, he oversees quality assurance for several types of radiation therapies to ensure that patients receive correct and appropriate treatment dosages. Mr. Bermudez holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and is close to obtaining an MS in medical physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he is currently working toward a PhD in medical physics. Mr. Bermudez’s interest in medical physics and engineering came from a desire to create positive change for others and for society. As a high school student, he was encouraged to explore paths in biomedical engineering by his calculus teacher, who recognized his passion for engineering. As an undergraduate, he focused on image and signal processing techniques for handling biomedical data, which led him to MRI, computed tomography, and electroencephalography research. During a graduate seminar featuring a radiologist from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Mr. Bermudez was offered a volunteer position that kick-started his research career. This led to opportunities with the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Technische Universität Graz, and the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, among others. He is a former GEM Fellow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and began working with the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a SciMed fellow, research associate and quality assurance associate in 2023. Mr. Bermudez remains affiliated with New York University as a researcher and member of the academic staff, and in 2022, he helped found the Bermudez-Cabrera Hermandad Scholarship. Throughout his career, he has tutored and taught numerous high school and college students in mathematics and science, in addition to providing career guidance and mentorship. He looks forward to pursuing a clinical postdoctoral program and residency in imaging or radiotherapy after completing his PhD, with the eventual goal of finding a tenure-track teaching and research role that will allow him to maintain a part-time clinical practice.
