With over 20 years of experience spanning cybersecurity, academia, consulting and the arts, his journey is one of relentless curiosity, adaptability, and the pursuit of knowledge and personal fulfillment. Raised in rural Northern California, Mr. Francis developed an early love for technology and the outdoors. This duality has remained a defining force throughout his life. His technical acumen led him to earn a BS in mathematics at Norwich University, where he also participated in the Corps of Cadets and Army ROTC. Later, he earned a master’s degree in information security and assurance at Western Governors University. Today, he is pursuing an MBA with aspirations of obtaining a PhD, focusing on entrepreneurship. Professionally, Mr. Francis has been a formidable force in cybersecurity. His leadership roles at the United States Department of Defense, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Merck KGaA have allowed him to drive security program strategies, develop governance frameworks and optimize global cybersecurity operations. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Brandeis University and Southern New Hampshire University, mentoring future industry professionals and sharing his many insights. He credits his long-term success to his education and the impact of his early mentors, Brian Lazatin and Dr. Edward Fujimoto. Beyond corporate offices and university classrooms, Mr. Francis also expresses himself through acting. Performing under the name DJ Shattine, he has worked on many notable productions, such as “Don’t Look Up,” “Boston Strangler” and “Castle Rock.” Acting has served as more than just a creative outlet; it has accelerated his personal journey of growth, helping him confront imposter syndrome, bullying and self-doubt.
