Several mentees from his tenure at CSX Corporation have earned high-ranking positions within the company, including one who succeeded him as treasurer and then became chief financial officer five years later. Since 2022, Mr. Baggs has served as a board member with Union Presbyterian Seminary. He is also a member of many philanthropic organizations, including the Aspire Society, the Laureate Society and the William and Mary Alumni Association. Moving forward, he plans to position the seminary for sustainable success for generations to come. Mr. Baggs and his wife are similarly dedicated to civic advocacy, supporting and funding scholarships and medical research for Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and heart disease, as well as various humanitarian relief efforts. After earning an MBA at The College of William and Mary in 1985, David Baggs embarked on a distinguished career at CSX Corporation, a prominent transportation company. During his 33-year tenure, he held pivotal roles focused on critical responsibilities in business planning, corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, treasury and investor relations. He retired from the company in 2018 as the vice president, treasurer and chief investor relations officer. Under Mr. Baggs’ leadership and direction, CSX Corporation’s investor relations program was regularly ranked among the best in the transportation sector by Institutional Investor Magazine, including being ranked first in the sector and named as a Most Honored Company from 2014 to 2018. In addition to an MBA, he holds a BBA in corporate finance and general business from The University of Arizona. In 2017, the university honored him with its Professional Achievement Award, celebrating his decades of success.
