49 Millennium - Nineteenth Edition EDUCATION DIRECTOR, TEACHER TLC Preschool Evanston, WY ADJUNCT PROFESSOR San Diego State University San Diego, CA CHERYL ANN O’HARRA Cheryl Ann O’Harra was inspired to begin her career in education after the birth of her son. To wit, she opened TLC Preschool in 2009 to provide quality care and instruction to her son and other preschool-age children. The school’s Montessori-inspired program focuses on nurturing, hands-on learning, freedom of choice, selfcorrection and independent learning. Coming from a long line of educators, she finds joy in bringing happiness to her students and seeing the delight on their faces when learning something new. Prior to creating TLC Preschool, Ms. O’Harra taught second grade at Aspen Elementary in Wyoming and worked as a teacher at a Montessori school in Minnesota. As part of her vocational journey, she pursued a formal education, earning a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and music at Concordia College. She ultimately achieved a master’s degree in early childhood education at Regis University. Looking to the future, Ms. O’Harra plans to continue evolving the curriculum at TLC Preschool. She takes pride in her work with her students and hopes to remain a teacher for many years. Bruce Urquhart has accrued several decades of practiced expertise. At the onset of his vocational journey, he graduated from San Diego State University in 1978 with a BA in geography and began his career as an intern at the California Department of Transportation. He soon decided that geography did not suit him, and thus he began working in land surveying in 1979. In 2006, Mr. Urquhart was named the deputy district director over the division of surveys and the right-of-way unit. He has since credited his success to the relationships he built throughout his career. Seeking to introduce others to the land surveying field, Mr. Urquhart became an adjunct professor at San Diego State University’s College of Engineering in 1991. He plans to retire in 2025 to focus on his health while teaching part-time. To wit, he is already planning a course for the College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University. Considering his decades of experience at the California Department of Transportation, Mr. Urquhart remains eager to continue sharing his knowledge and enriching the minds of his students.
