Now an adjunct staff member in the organization, he specializes in naval warfare and provides consulting services as needed. Previously, he served as a senior analyst, assisting the Australian government through the use of smaller ships and theater security operations. A significant portion of his research focused on unmanned undersea vehicles, and he has authored publications such as “Concepts of Operations for UAVs.” Before joining the RAND Corporation, Dr. Button was a civilian in the United States Navy. He transitioned from academia to defense analysis, beginning his career at the Center for Naval Analyses, where he worked for eight years. He holds a BA in mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a PhD in mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University. Currently, Dr. Button is researching the biochemistry of aging and Alzheimer’s disease. In his spare time, he volunteers at a local hospital and handles emergency cases when needed. In the coming years, he plans to relocate to Mérida, Mexico, where he will continue volunteering in hospitals. Rochelle Carpio maintains a sincere passion for geriatric care, having worked in the long-term senior living industry since 2010. In 2020, she became a licensed administrator for memory care assisted living and transitioned from marketing roles in health care to operations. Most recently, she became the executive director at Silverado Senior Living in 2022. Prior to her endeavors in the United States, Ms. Carpio competed in beauty pageants, representing her native Philippines in the Miss Asia Pacific Pageant and the Miss World University Pageant. While competing, she earned a BA in communication and media studies from the University of Santo Tomas in 1998 and began working in marketing. Upon moving to the United States, she joined Vista Cove Care Center as the director of admissions and marketing, beginning her career in senior care. In the coming years, Ms. Carpio hopes to continue advancing her career, aiming for a regional role in operations. She is also considering pursuing an MBA, which would open new opportunities for her.
