During the COVID-19 pandemic, she transitioned to long-term care, wanting to provide families with a familiar face during difficult times. Recently, she took up the role as the executive director at Bristol Hospice LLC, where she utilizes her skills to provide excellent end-of-life care. Ms. Murphy excels in providing personal care and sympathizing with her patients by channeling her emotions into her work. Rather than dwelling on her own pain, she focuses on helping others cope with the loss of a loved one. In recognition of her accomplishments in the field, she won the Daisy Award from Cox Monett Hospital in 2020. During her time at Crowder College, she earned both the Representative Registered Nurse Award and the Outstanding Graduate Award in 2016. Reflecting on her career, Ms. Murphy attributes much of her success to her grit and persistence. Hailing from a strong lineage of leaders, she is immensely grateful for the support of her family. Her mother is a professional who has taught her and her sister how to be leaders and navigate their careers as women in various industries, and her father has always encouraged them to embrace their roles as women leaders. In the coming years, Ms. Murphy aims to grow professionally and hold a significant position at Bristol Hospice, where she can train others to provide the best possible care for patients and their families. She intends to ensure that nurses receive the education they need to excel in their roles. Likewise, she hopes to continue her civicminded endeavors. C ourtney A. Murphy is a rising expert in the field of nursing, operating as a registered nurse for almost a decade. At the onset of her vocational journey, she pursued a higher education at Crowder College, where she ultimately earned an associate degree in registered nursing in 2016. She subsequently became the first graduate COURTNEY A. MURPHY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Bristol Hospice LLC Choctaw, OK MEDICINE, HEALTH CARE AND WELLNESS With over three decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Arnett Klugh III has cultivated a fulfilling career as a boardcertified pediatric neurosurgeon, specializing in academia and medicine. In 2020, he became an associate professor and the division chief of pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he oversees the pediatric neurosurgery residency program and serves as a provider in a level one trauma center. Prior to the onset of his career, he honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 1990 and the United States Navy for the following 25 years. Dr. Klugh subsequently began his education at the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a BS in chemistry in 1994. He then continued his studies at the Baylor College of Medicine, ultimately achieving an MD in 1998. Afterward, he completed residencies in neurosurgery and critical care between 2000 and 2007 at the Walter Reed Medical Center, the University of New Mexico and Stanford University. In 2007, Dr. Klugh was named a pediatric neurosurgery fellow at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he spent a year as a clinical instructor while training at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Afterward, he became the chief of pediatric neurosurgery at the Naval Medical Center San Diego in 2008. In this role, he helped develop the program to meet the needs of patients and their families while also creating residency opportunities for the next generation of providers. As a leader in his specialty, Dr. Klugh has published numerous articles and case studies. Furthermore, he remains active as a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the Neurosurgical Society of America. In light of his accomplishments, he credits much of his success to his faith, family and early military experiences. He advises others interested in careers in science and medicine to set ambitious goals and operate with a patient-first mindset.
