Since 2023, he has served as the director of financial planning and analysis and decision support at Palomar Health, overseeing budgeting and financial management for inpatient, outpatient and acute care clinics serving more than 250,000 patients annually. Driven by his lifelong passion for health care, Mr. Marks holds a BS in microbiology and immunology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA from Northeastern University. Before originally entering health care administration at Palomar Health in 2016, Mr. Marks was a research assistant and instructor at the University of California. Likewise, he worked in clinical settings around the world, including placements in Ecuador and Peru. He is also a member of the board of the American College of Healthcare Executives, which honored him with a Healthcare Leadership Award in 2025. Mr. Marks credits his success to his commitment to his goals and the support of his mentors, and he looks forward to growing further as a leader in the coming years. Dr. Christopher Maylahn is a retired program research specialist for the New York State Department of Health, where he dedicated nearly 30 years of his career to epidemiology, disease surveillance and public health. Inspired by his grandfather’s career in medicine, he earned a Master of Public Health in epidemiology at the Yale University School of Medicine and achieved a Doctor of Public Health at the University at Albany. Dr. Maylahn began his career as a hypertension program coordinator for the Vermont Heart Association. In 1980, he joined the New York State Department of Health, where he would remain for the duration of his career. In recognition of his accomplishments, he has been honored by the CDC and the National Association of Chronic Disease Detectors. Dr. Maylahn is proud of his work in disease prevention, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He credits his success to the support of his family and colleagues. Looking ahead, he hopes to remain active in health care as a supporter of Prevent Blindness America and other initiatives benefiting those with visual impairments. CHRISTOPHER MAYLAHN, DPH
