Murphy is a seasoned data architect and modeler with over 30 years of expertise in information science. Specializing in enterprise data modeling, he joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina in 2025, contributing to their internal strategic analytics initiatives. His career spans industry-leading companies such as Ameriprise Financial Services, Optum Health and UnitedHealth Group, covering diverse sectors including banking, brokerage, retail, air travel, scientific research, discreet manufacturing, facilities management, health care and health insurance. Mr. Murphy’s deep experience allows him to build efficient, scalable data solutions tailored to complex business needs. A career highlight was leading Northwest Airlines’ impactful 18-month redesign, testing and rollout of new ground operations software, revolutionizing flight and baggage scheduling processes. Mr. Murphy’s success is rooted in persistence, resilience and purpose, attributes he honed with the guidance of esteemed mentors, including Professor Gordon Everest III at the University of Minnesota, his alma mater. He values collaboration and encourages open-minded growth and feedback. Beyond his professional life, Mr. Murphy is a proud father of three and actively serves in the National Ski Patrol. Phillip N. Melton leverages a wealth of practiced expertise as a seasoned engineer. He currently serves as the electrostatic discharge assessments branch manager for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division, where he has held various other engineering leadership roles since 2016. Responsible for founding and leading his branch, which tests and analyzes electrical charge buildup on military weapons systems, he considers his DoD work to be the culmination of a lifelong dream to serve his country and utilize his natural talents to create a positive impact. Prior to beginning his engineering journey as a civilian in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Melton earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at the University of North Carolina Charlotte in 2016. Furthermore, he found early success during internships with Newport News Shipbuilding and Avery Dennison Corporation. An engineering prodigy, he began college at the age of 16, and he credits his success to his determination and the support of his family. Within the next decade, Mr. Melton aspires to lead within NAVSEA command as technical director of a Naval Surface Warfare Center.
