156 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL WORK, PUBLIC SERVICE, NONPROFIT AND HUMANITIES Leveraging over five decades of experience, Dr. Lynn Steinberg is a psychotherapist in private practice, specializing in family dynamics, reunification and parental alienation. An alumna of Antioch University, she holds a BA and an MA in clinical psychology. She subsequently completed post-graduate studies at California Graduate Institute and achieved a PhD in clinical psychology in 1986. In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Steinberg is a board-certified professional counselor, as recognized by the American Psychotherapy Association in 2009. Likewise, she holds a license for marriage, family and child therapy from the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Dr. Steinberg began her career in 1974 as a social worker for Gulf Coast Regional Mental Health Services in Galveston, Texas. After relocating to California, she continued operating as a social worker for Klein Bottle Youth Services, California Living Centers and the Crittenton Center before transitioning into private practice in 1984. Her practice, informed by her family systems training, handles complex family issues — including coercive control, cases of abuse and false allegations — and supervises reunification therapy for patients affected by trauma and estrangement. Additionally, Dr. Steinberg has served as an expert witness for the Los Angeles Superior Court and others, and she has worked as a mediator since 1999. As a leader in her specialty and a subject matter expert, Dr. Steinberg has held leadership roles on the boards of the Professional Advocacy Network and other professional organizations. Furthermore, she has written numerous papers and letters published in media outlets and professional journals. She is also the author of the 2021 book, “You’re Not Crazy: Overcoming Parent/Child Alienation.” In 2024, she was named the Mental Health Advocate of the Year in recognition of her dedication to advocacy for families and abuse survivors. Looking ahead, Dr. Steinberg plans to continue her work and private practice. Accounting for her accomplishments, she is proud to have positively impacted both her patients and her field.
