Drawing inspiration from her father, a neurologist and psychiatrist, Dr. Brandt pursued a BA at the University of Georgia, graduating cum laude in 1974. Delving into the study of psychology, she continued her education at the University of Alabama, achieving an MA in 1977 and a PhD in 1980. After she completed postgraduate studies at the University of Alabama, she worked in adolescent medicine between 1978 and 1979. In the coming years, Dr. Brandt plans to continue pursuing her passions and making meaningful contributions to the field of psychology. Despite reaching her 70s, she remains committed to her work and plans to maintain this dedication for as long as possible. by researching and participating in new clinical trials. She has been cancer-free ever since and now generously supports Komen and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Brandt’s daughters, one of whom is a physician and the other a businessperson, actively guide and support these philanthropic initiatives. Their involvement in boards further leads to substantial donations, along with contributions to the nearby hospital and other various organizations. Dr. Brandt is ever committed to giving back and supporting the community in meaningful ways. Reflecting on her career, Dr. Brandt attributes much of her success to her upbringing in Savannah, where her parents were very well regarded.
