63 Millennium - Twentieth Edition BUSINESS, FINANCE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP As the chief executive officer and president of Dos Pisano’s Inc. and a former director of student nutrition services for numerous school districts, Dominic Frank Machi is passionate about cooking and helping others through a unified love of food. Dos Pisano’s produces high-quality bakery and food products for schools, health care facilities and retail food service. Mr. Machi created his company in 2023 to improve the food service offerings at public schools — a continuation of his work as a nutrition services professional. Alongside his many years of professional experience, he holds a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and food administration from California State University, Chico. From 2013 to 2023, Mr. Machi served as the director of student and food nutrition services for the Davis Joint Unified School District and the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. During this time, he helped the districts achieve certification from the Eat Real nonprofit organization for their efforts in improving the food service supply chain and promoting healthy diets to K-12 students. Additionally, he introduced a scratch cooking model, emphasizing cooking food in schools rather than purchasing pre-made, processed food from manufacturers. He continues to follow this approach, ensuring that his own company does not use preservatives in any bakery products served to students. Looking ahead, Mr. Machi aims to grow Dos Pisano’s to provide the healthiest foods possible for even more schools. He hopes to expand beyond California to other states and serve as an example for other food service companies nationwide. Since 2021, he has belonged to Disciples Escoffier International, an international nonprofit association dedicated to the culinary arts, and he looks forward to continuing his work with the organization in the coming years.
