Since 2023, he has served as the executive chef at Brentwood Country Club, where he oversees all culinary operations within the club. To wit, he primarily manages an a la carte restaurant that runs three meals a day and a cafe and snack bar that operate for two periods each day. Mr. Capua also handles various administrative duties as needed, collaborating with the club directors and managers to ensure consistent, high-quality services. Prior to his current position, he spent three years with Sycamore Hills Golf Club as the executive chef. Raised by an Italian family with a passion for cuisine, Mr. Capua nurtured his lifelong love for food and began working in commercial kitchens as a teenager. Despite his love for cooking, he initially decided to pursue a career in the marine industry for four years. Seeking to then pivot his career, he secured work as a sous chef at Hammock Beach Resort in 2012 while simultaneously completing an American Culinary Federation apprenticeship through First Coast Technical College. Mr. Capua subsequently worked as the chef de cuisine at Hammock Beach Resort until 2016, at which point he joined Fiddlesticks Country Club Inc. as the executive sous chef. Reflecting on his fulfilling career, Mr. Capua is particularly proud to have started a resort and country club business, which currently ranks seventh nationwide in a field of more than 100 competitors. Despite operating in a small market, their innovative and modern approach proved successful, allowing them to expand and cement their reputation for excellence. Additionally, he is proud of his military service, having honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 2008 to 2014. To commemorate his achievements, Club + Resort Chef recognized Mr. Capua among their Chef’s 40 Under 40 list in 2024. In the coming years, he aims to continue speaking at conferences, become a motivational speaker, and advocate for others in the food and beverage industry. Inspired by the positive feedback from friends and family, she opened her own pie shop, JudyPie, in 2016. She strives for perfection in every aspect of the shop, and while she often handles business matters remotely, she spends weekends at the shop to ensure smooth operations. Since opening JudyPie, Ms. Bernstein-Balunda has shifted from baking pies herself to overseeing a team of bakers who handle pie production. The shop has become a place filled with personal touches, including family memorabilia and pictures of her grandparents on the walls, which add a sense of warmth and history to the space. Despite her success, she remains humble and focused on providing great experiences for her customers. In addition to JudyPie, Ms. Bernstein-Balunda operates Judy Balunda Educational Consultants, where she serves as a behavior specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and education from The University of Texas at Austin and is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and support, partnering with a community health center in Fort Worth, Texas, that supports individuals dealing with depression. She visits the center monthly, providing meals, toiletries and other essential items. Since 1982, he has owned Invitation House and previously worked as a member of DFW Wedding Professionals. Looking to the future, Ms. Balunda strives to maintain the success of JudyPie, which was ranked among the Top 10 Best Pie Shops in the United States by USA Today in 2024, while continuing to work for as long as possible. Ultimately, she hopes for her children to find happiness and success in their endeavors, while she also cultivates happiness for herself.
