He developed an early interest in construction and engineering, powered by a desire to help others and make a positive impact on communities. Born in Turkey, he completed high school with an emphasis on mathematics and science coursework at TED Ankara College before going on to the civil engineering department at Istanbul Technical University in 1996. Though not yet done with his education, Dr. Gelisen began his career with engineering internships for Aktürk Yapi Endüstrisi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Atak Engineering Construction Industry & Trade Inc. Co., where he remained through 1998. While completing his industry internships, Dr. Gelisen studied at Middle East Technical University, earning a degree in civil engineering in 1999. That year, he relocated to the United States to pursue other educational and professional opportunities, including a student assistant position at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and a research assistantship with DaimlerChrysler. He enrolled at Lehigh University, working as a teaching assistant before completing a Master of Science in structural engineering in 2001. After leaving Lehigh University, Dr. Gelisen joined Parsons Brinckerhoff as a senior structural engineer, departing in 2005 to become a senior project controls engineer for Washington Group International. Dr. Gelisen’s lifelong dedication to learning and the passion for teaching that he discovered while at Lehigh University led him to extend his graduate studies, and in 2006, he was awarded a Master of Science in computer science by Columbia University. In 2010, he completed a Doctor of Philosophy in construction management at New York University. During this period, he served as vice president of academic affairs for FTAA, returning to his industry in 2007 as a cost manager for Skanska, a position he held until 2015. He continued his affiliation with FTAA, serving as vice president of technology between 2012 and 2015. In addition to his current responsibilities as a professor at Bahcesehir University, Dr. Gelisen remains an in-demand professional consultant with a portfolio of clients, including Airports de Paris, Dogus Group, Hydrostroy AD and
ACADEMIA, EDUCATION AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES mentors, especially his doctoral thesis advisor Bud Griffis. Reflecting on his career, Dr. Gelisen is proud to have contributed to so many large construction projects across the world, and he looks forward to continuing his professional work with an emphasis on sustainability and zero-carbon projects. Dr. Gelisen considers his industry work to be the key to his effectiveness as an educator, underscoring the value of real-world experience in developing critical thinking skills and a big picture approach to learning. Throughout her extensive career, she has thrived teaching in both public and private institutions. Since 2018, she has served as a science teacher and specialist at The Browning School in New York, where she works directly with elementary and middle school students. She is also an active member of NSTA, STANYS, and the Science Educators for Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice. Previously, she excelled as a fifth and sixth-grade science teacher at the Calhoun School from 2008 to 2018. Ms. Gillman began her career in 1982, working as a fifth-grade teacher at the St. Angela Merici School until 1983. She then served the Joytown Kent Elementary School as a fourth and fifth grade teacher between 1983 and 1984, the Bede School as a language arts and social studies teacher from 1984 to 1986, and the Professional Children’s School in New York City as a fourth and fifth grade teacher in all academic subjects and a sixth grade math and science teacher from 1986 to 2006. After a resounding 20 years in that role, Ms. Gillman served as a fourth and fifth grade science teacher for Anna C. Scott Elementary School and a fifth and sixth grade mathematics and science teacher at Yeshivat Noam between 2006 and 2008. Adjacent to her primary professional pursuits, Ms. Gillman previously lent her expertise to the American Museum of Natural History as an ambassador for its Half-Earth Project in 2018. Furthermore, she was an ambassador for the NASA Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission Program in 2015. Well-regarded for her scientific voice, she has also succeeded as a presenter at several key academic conferences. Ms. Gillman has authored numerous articles and contributed to many esteemed journals, including the STANYS Bulletin and Science and Children on behalf of the National Science Teaching Association. She is particularly proud of her curriculum, “Straw Rockets are Out of This World,” which was originally published by Science and Children in 2013 and later republished in the 2016 book, “Bringing STEM to the Elementary Classroom.” This year, Ms. Gillman also contributed materials for a new book from Corwin Publishers, titled “What Teachers Want to Know About Teaching Climate Change.” In addition to her work as a speaker and author, Ms. Gillman has conducted a variety of academic workshops. In addition, Ms. Gillman was nominated and selected as “Top Educator of the Year 2025” by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). Outside her professional path, Ms. Gillman is a celebrated pianist and violinist who has performed with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, The August Symphony Orchestra and the North Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Reflecting on her career, she largely attributes her success to her natural calling to serve as an educator. To this end, she is always searching for ways to improve her craft, and she hopes to continue growing as a teacher in the coming years. was the “Mars Here We Come” workshop with STEMTeachersNYC in early 2025. Ms. Gillman is certified in K-8 education and holds endorsements in K-12 education for students with hearing impairments. She has also been a National Geographic-certified educator since 2019. As a testament to her success, Ms. Gillman has been honored with accolades, including the East Asian International Studies Program Curriculum Development Award from Cornell University in

Her great-grandmother, mother and cousin all served as teachers, and Ms. Hendricks channeled their passions to forge her own academic path. Throughout her career, her family served as an encouraging support system, with her mother being an especially significant figure in her life. Desiring to continue her family’s legacy, Ms. Hendricks sought to develop her own education and share this knowledge and passion with students. Ms. Hendricks earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of West Florida in 1980 and 1985, respectively, academic credentials that informed her professional path and equipped her with the skills required to excel in educational circles. She also held certifications in music teaching and foreign language teaching. Specializing in elementary education, manuscript development and children’s literature, she has leveraged her advanced studies to provide the best possible education to all her students. She attributes her academic success to her mentors, including pivotal figures at the University of West Florida, such as Dr. Wayne White and Dr. Dorothy Diamond, who helped Ms. Hendricks navigate difficult circumstances during her collegiate studies. Subsequently, Ms. Hendricks served as an elementary classroom teacher for the Santa Rosa County School Board for 32 years, where she fostered environments conducive to both academic and personal development. In this regard, Ms. Hendricks always greeted students at the door and served breakfast to ensure that her students were properly nourished and attentive. Over the course of her career in education, Ms. Hendricks tailored her lessons to best suit her students’ needs. In the mornings, she cultivated collaborative learning and discussions with reading groups, while in the afternoons, she taught mathematics, science and social studies. Ms. Hendricks emphasizes that her teaching career allowed her to learn from her students as much as they learned from her, and she gained invaluable insights into their emotions and needs through conversations. To this end, her

In past years, she also volunteered at her local hospital, where she worked in the emergency room and assisted weekly in the gastroenterology department, performing such tasks as helping patients prepare for their procedures and escorting them out of the hospital after their procedures were complete. Ms. Hendricks cites that her volunteer efforts were a meaningful experience in which she gained valuable life skills. In accounting for her success, Ms. Hendricks credits her ability to connect with students through humor and a positive classroom atmosphere. The proud mother of one daughter and grandmother of three grandchildren, Ms. Hendricks aims to continue enjoying her retirement and spending quality time with her family in the coming years. understanding of her students’ unique needs and skills allowed her to adapt her curriculum each year, and her commitment to student learning was evident in the wide success of her reading program, which increased her students’ ability to comprehend the written word and participate in class discussions. A prolific author as well, Dr. Block has authored or co-authored a plethora of peer-reviewed articles, books and papers, most recently “Rethinking Retail: A Marketer’s Guide to Decoding Consumer Preference through Data Analytics” in 2025. Dr. Block has accepted various accolades throughout his career, such as a Best Paper Award from the Journal of Advertising Research, a Teacher-Scholar Award from Michigan State University and a Best Faculty Award from Northwestern University. Equipped with expertise in advertising, marketing and integrated marketing communications, Dr. Martin P. Block is an esteemed educator and has been recognized as professor emeritus at Northwestern University since 2023. Joining the prestigious university in 1985, he ascended the ranks multiple times and played an instrumental role in transforming the department of advertising into the department of integrated marketing communications, which he chaired for 10 years. In addition to these feats, Dr. Block established a graduate-level professional program and an undergraduate certificate program at the university. Dr. Block held several concurrent responsibilities at Northwestern University, having complemented his teaching experience with various administrative tasks, such as applying analytics to marketing issues, which had a lasting impact on its various departments and alumni on a global scale. He is an emeritus professor at the University of Michigan, where he taught theoretical and applied social psychology from 2006 to 2024. Furthermore, he was the founding director of the school’s diversity think tank, the National Center for Institutional Diversity, which he led from 2006 to 2013. Dr. Bowman is well-regarded for his voice on racial and ethnic diversity in public policy and higher education. To this end, he has participated in research initiatives of the National Institutes of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Science Foundation. In pursuit of his own higher education, Dr. Bowman attended Northern Arizona University on a basketball scholarship, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Afterward, he continued his education at the University of Michigan, where he completed two master's degrees before ultimately achieving a PhD in social psychology in 1977. In pursuit of her own higher education, Dr. Curl-Langager ultimately achieved a PhD in developmental and child psychology at The University of Kansas in 1982. To commemorate her achievements, she was previously honored with several accolades, many of which included prestigious research grants from the United States Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services. In light of her fulfilling career, Dr. Curl-Langager has attributed much of her success to her persistence and determination. Dr. Rita M. Curl-Langager has cultivated more than five decades of success as an accomplished educator and author. From 1997 to 2018, she served as a professor in the department of addiction studies, psychology and social work at Minot State University. She originally joined the institution in 1991 as an associate professor in the department of education and psychology. Since 2018, Dr. Curl-Langager has maintained professor emeritus status at the university. She also notably taught at The University of Kansas from 1978 to 1985 and Utah State University from 1987 to 1991. Dr. Curl-Langager has long committed herself to developing programs and curricula that best serve students. To this end, she has excelled as a writer, with her most recent work, the first edition of “Adulthood: An Introduction,” published in 2024 by Routledge. She began her career at the University of Rhode Island, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1970. She went on to study at The George Washington University and the University of Wyoming, which awarded her both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Education. Cementing her commitment to her students and discipline, she earned a Doctor of Education in adult education from Northern Illinois University in 1994. Dr. Devney served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps for 20 years, earning an Achievement Medal for her service before transitioning into nurse education full-time. She took on her earliest clinical leadership roles in the 1980s, serving as the director of health services for the College of Lake County before working with WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital. Her tenure with the health system lasted until 2007, when she became a clinical instructor at The Pennsylvania State University, where she continues to teach. Since 2013, she has been an assistant teaching professor in the university’s Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing. Dr. Devney attributes her success to her belief that all goals can be achieved through hard work and her dedication to shaping the future of the nursing profession through education. Goulter is the assistant director of financial aid at Lasell University, bringing more than 15 years of experience in financial services and higher education to her role. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Colby-Sawyer College and pursued internships in radio broadcasting and technical theatre while tending to her collegiate studies. After graduation, she entered the financial services and banking sectors as a teller at the Institution for Savings, where she remained until 2012. That same year, Ms. Goulter joined Cambridge Savings Bank as a teller before transitioning into a customer contact center specialist in 2013. She rose to become a compliance specialist at Cambridge Savings Bank in 2015, a position she would hold until 2017, when she moved into financial aid advising. Her first financial aid role was with Bay State College as a financial aid counselor, and in 2020, she became a financial aid counselor at Northeastern University. During this time, she continued to deepen her understanding of the needs of diverse student populations. Ms. Goulter accepted her current position with Lasell University in 2021 after a former colleague reached out to recruit her. Earlier in his career, he served with the United States Air Force for 23 years, holding several positions, such as chief of the training division, staff director of exercise plans and director of the analysis division. After concluding his military service, Dr. Greig worked in the civilian sector as an instructor for the JROTC at Saint Louis Public Schools from 1998 to 2000. Following the turn of the century, he served in numerous leadership roles, including as the deputy of education services for the 52 MSS from 2005 to 2007, provost of USAFE University from 2007 to 2009, and education program administrator for the Defense Contract Audit Agency from 2009 to 2016. Subsequently, he was the chief learning officer for the Air Mobility Command from 2016 to 2017, an adjunct faculty member at Rowan College of Burlington County from 2017 to 2018, and a community support coordinator for the Air Force Civilian Service in the United Kingdom from 2019 to 2024. To prepare for his career, Dr. Greig pursued a formal education at Cornell University, receiving a BA in philosophy in 1974. During his undergraduate studies, he was president of the Cornell chapter of Alpha Phi Omega and venerable dean of the Cornell chapter of the Acacia fraternity. Thereafter, he achieved an MA in counseling at Ball State University in 1980 and an MA in philosophy at the University of Colorado Boulder in 1985. She oversaw accreditation of the school’s technical and professional programs under her purview, including securing funding and aiding in the design of a new science center. Among her and the science faculty's triumphs during this period was the creation of an AS in Biotechnology program that guaranteed students transfer acceptance into the University of Minnesota's biotechnology major. She retired from deanship in 2009 but remained an active mentor to other deans until 2012. Ms. Hollenbeck has written resources for other deans and was the recipient of a 2010 Instructional Leadership Award from the National Council of Instructional Administrators, among other honors. Janis Hollenbeck is a retired dean at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, where she celebrated 18 years as an administrator overseeing programs in STEM and health care. Drawn to careers that offered her the chance to help others, she initially hoped to become a veterinarian but pivoted to nursing due to the field’s lack of opportunities in large animal practice for women at the time. She completed a Bachelor of Science at Macalester College, focusing on nursing and psychology, and continued her education at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, earning a Master of Science in family nursing and completing additional master’s-level coursework in psychiatric nursing. Ms. Hollenbeck began her clinical nursing career in Minneapolis and, in 1967, as a civilian nurse at an American military hospital in Germany, where she spent the next seven years working in pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. After returning to the United States in 1974, she pivoted to academia, becoming a community college nursing instructor until 1988, when she was named director of Minneapolis Community College's Associate in Nursing program. Ms. Mosley also founded AMT UP 3D, a nonprofit focused on mentorship, health and community empowerment.
