108 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY Jennifer A. Berenger is a 22-year veteran of the United States Air Force. She currently serves as the deputy director of business operations for the Ada County Highway District, where she has held management roles since 2020. In her current position, she oversees a county-wide highway district with more than 400 employees serving a population of more than half a million people. She originally joined the U.S. Air Force in 1997 after receiving a BSEE at the University of Washington. From 1997 to 2019, Ms. Berenger held various international roles, including posts at Air Force bases throughout Germany. In 2005, she was appointed as a military observer to the United Nations while serving as an Air Force section chief. By 2007, she became the chief of the Air Force’s budget analysis branch, and the following year, she began teaching military personnel as an associate professor. She was named the chief of systems engineering for the U.S. Air Force in 2011 and the chief of the space systems affordability office the following year. Ms. Berenger continued taking on larger leadership roles, becoming the chief division head of Vandenberg Air Force Base in 2013 and the deputy director of Ellsworth Air Force Base in 2015. Before retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel in 2019, she spent two years as the deputy director of Osan Air Force Base in South Korea. Throughout her military service, Ms. Berenger continued her education, achieving an MPA in nonprofit management at the University of Colorado in 1999 and a master’s degree in military operational arts and science at the United States Air Force Air Command and Staff College in 2011. Ms. Berenger has published two books on the intersection of the military and the media. To commemorate her accomplishments, she has received several military awards for her service, including her crucial work in leading Osan Air Force Base’s operational transition. In the coming years, she looks forward to helping the district grow even further, and she hopes to earn a Project Management Professional certification.
