Preston is celebrated for his expertise in aviation pilot training, business strategies and operational management with over 60 years of experience. Since 2008, he has served as the president and general manager of Enterprise Aviation Services LLC (dba Del Sol Aviation), where he develops strategic planning and arrangements with U.S. based airlines, the U.S. Department of Energy and Department of Defense and establishes training programs for transitioning military personnel and DOE National Nuclear Security Office of Secure Transportation federal agents to obtain FAA-certified drone pilot licenses. Notably, Mr. Preston’s company has trained more than 7,000 pilots to date. Previously serving in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Preston began as an aircraft electrician and then rose, as a commissioned officer, to serve as the deputy for future factory concepts at the Air Force Wright Aeronautical Laboratories, responsible for developing the Factory of the Future program to modernize the U.S. militaryindustrial base. Notably, his work on the Factory of the Future concept garnered the interest of the Swiss government; two of its concept applications were conducted in Switzerland and were selected by the European Research and Development Commission (EUREKA) as top European success stories upon completion. To attest to its more recent success, Enterprise Aviation Services was named the Top Performing Flight School Worldwide by Women of Aviation Worldwide in 2015 and 2017 and the Most Successful Flight School in the USA by Aerospace & Defense Review in October 2024. Mr. Preston and his son were also spotlighted in Albuquerque, The Magazine in August 2024. Mr. Preston holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MA in industrial management from Central Michigan University. Looking toward the future, he plans to ease into a well-deserved retirement while helping his son advance Enterprise Aviation Services to continue thriving under new leadership. RICHARD R.
