124 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT SUZANNE MEYER JUDAS ATTORNEY (RETIRED) Holland & Knight LLP Marietta, GA Suzanne Meyer Judas has celebrated a legal career spanning nearly 30 years, specializing in maritime law. Now retired, she served as a partner at Holland & Knight LLP in Jacksonville, Florida, from 1998 until entering her retirement in 2018. During her longstanding tenure with the firm, Ms. Judas became involved in transactional law for maritime clients, litigating a myriad of complex cases related to oil spills, injuries to longshoremen and damage to infrastructure caused by ships. Among the many highlights of her career, Ms. Judas is especially proud of representing a ship that was lost in a hurricane off the coast of Florida, where she and her business partner mediated wrongful death settlement agreements with the 32 families of the mariners who tragically passed on board the ship. Ms. Judas also served as an associate hiring partner at Holland & Knight from 2000 to 2006. Earlier in her career, Ms. Judas pursued a formal education at the University of Florida, earning a JD, with honors, in 1990. She was subsequently admitted to practice law in Florida, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. During her legal studies, Ms. Judas served as a summer law clerk with Gabel & Hair. After obtaining her law degree, she joined Gabel & Hair as an associate in 1990. Promoted to partner in 1991, she served in this capacity until assuming her role with Holland & Knight in 1998. Notably, Ms. Judas held several related legal appointments while with Holland & Knight. Appointed to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners by the Florida Supreme Court, she was elected the board’s chair in 2007, serving until 2008. She also served as a trustee of the American Inns of Court and was a Pegasus Scholar of the Inner Temple in London, England. Following this position, Ms. Judas served as the chair of the Inns of Court Pegasus Scholars Subcommittee, which selects young lawyers based in the U.S. to visit England for three months to study the English legal system. Likewise, she has disseminated her knowledge of the field through several published works and speaking opportunities. To this end,
